Introducción.
La I Jornada de Avistamiento de Aves es una actividad interpretativa organizada por Aulaga, Proyectos Sostenibles, dentro del marco del Quemao Hub de Lanzarote Quemao Class, en colaboración con el Grupo Chacón. Esta iniciativa invita a descubrir, con una mirada pausada y respetuosa, la riqueza ornitológica del Saladar de La Santa, uno de los ecosistemas más singulares y delicados de Lanzarote.
El objetivo principal de esta jornada es acercar a los participantes a la avifauna local, fomentar el respeto por la biodiversidad y generar conciencia sobre la importancia de conservar espacios naturales como este, donde aves migratorias y residentes encuentran refugio, alimento y condiciones únicas para su supervivencia.
Durante un recorrido guiado de aproximadamente dos horas, los asistentes conocerán de cerca la formación y características ecológicas del saladar, un entorno salino modelado por el mar, el viento y la aridez insular. La actividad incluirá interpretaciones sobre la flora adaptada y sobre el comportamiento, migración y estrategias de supervivencia de las especies más representativas.
Entre las aves que podrán observarse destacan el zarapito trinador, la garceta común, el chorlitejo patinegro y el charrán patinegro, todas ellas testimonio de la riqueza y el valor ambiental de este enclave. La jornada se completará con el uso de material óptico especializado, que permitirá una observación respetuosa y de calidad.
Para garantizar una experiencia segura y respetuosa con el entorno, se deberá mantener el silencio, seguir las indicaciones del equipo guía y evitar alterar la dinámica natural de las especies.
Esta jornada forma parte del compromiso de Lanzarote Quemao Class con el conocimiento, la conservación y la cultura medioambiental, ampliando la propuesta del evento más allá del deporte y ofreciendo nuevas maneras de vincularse con el territorio desde la sostenibilidad. Introduction.
The 1st Birdwatching Day is an interpretive activity organized by Aulaga, Proyectos Sostenibles, as part of the Quemao Hub by Lanzarote Quemao Class, in collaboration with Grupo Chacón. This initiative invites participants to discover, with a calm and respectful perspective, the ornithological richness of Saladar de La Santa, one of the most unique and sensitive ecosystems on the island of Lanzarote.
The main goal of this day is to bring participants closer to the local birdlife, promote respect for biodiversity, and raise awareness about the importance of protecting natural environments like this one, where migratory and resident birds find refuge, food, and exceptional conditions for survival.
Throughout a guided tour of approximately two hours, participants will learn in detail about the formation and ecological characteristics of the saladar, a saline habitat shaped by the sea, wind, and the island’s arid climate. The experience will include environmental interpretation of the adapted flora and the behavior, migratory patterns, and survival strategies of some of the most representative bird species.
Among the birds likely to be spotted are the whimbrel, the little egret, the Kentish plover, and the sandwich tern, all of which are emblematic examples of the ecological value and biodiversity of this habitat. The tour will be complemented by specialized optical equipment to ensure a respectful and high-quality observation.
To ensure a safe and responsible experience, participants are expected to remain silent, follow the guides’ instructions, and avoid disturbing the behavior of the natural wildlife.

9:10h – 9:25h: INTRODUCCIÓN AL ECOSISTEMA LOCAL
- Explicación sobre el Saladar de la Santa.
- Presentación de las aves más comunes en la zona.
9:25h – 9:50h: PRIMERA PARADA PARA OBSERVACIÓN DE AVES
- Caminata por sendero cercano para observación.
- Uso de binoculares para identificar aves y explicación sobre el comportamiento de las aves y su adaptación a este hábitat salino.
- Preguntas y respuestas mientras se observa.
9:50h – 10:10h: CHARLA SOBRE AVES MIGRATORIAS Y CONSERVACIÓN
- Explicación sobre las aves migratorias que pasan por Lanzarote.
- La importancia de la conservación de las zonas húmedas y salinas para las aves migratorias y explicación sobre cómo los cambios en el clima afectan las rutas migratorias y las poblaciones locales.
10:10h – 10:40h: SEGUNDA PARADA DE OBSERVACIÓN
- Continuación del recorrido por un sector diferente para observar aves limícolas y otras especies en su hábitat natural.
- Consejos prácticos sobre cómo observar aves sin interferir.
- Observación y análisis de aves adicionales que puedan encontrarse.
10:40h – 10:50h: RECAPITULACIÓN Y CONCLUSIONES
- Última parada para repasar las especies vistas durante la ruta.
- Reflexión sobre la biodiversidad de la zona.
